The tyke is three!

Never let it be said that Reb is a boring kid.

Two days before the 3rd birthday, she had a fever. The next day, it was gone. Everything falling into place, we had a good plan for the big day. Lunch at Shakey's (her choice), merienda with her little friends and then pancit (one of her favorites) for dinner.

Then came the big day. She loved her gifts. Lunch came. She didn't like Shakey's (told us after we had gotten all our orders) and wanted Jollibee instead. So off we went to Jollibee for her walang-kamatayang Burger Steak. Then back to home base to prepare for the merienda. I got some balloons which were bursting by themselves (ugh!). Okay, no problem. Just got rid of them after Reb looked pointedly at me and said, "Mama, bakit mo ako ginaganito? Nagugulat ako sa putok!" Yeah...future drama princess indeed.

The kids arrived and boy, did she have the time of her life. I doubt that they even understood each other as the high-pitched voices (typical of kids) drowned every sound around us. They were having so much fun that they didn't realize it was nearing 7pm.

The tired lot called it a night at around seven. Though Reb ate a little pancit for dinner, it didn't take long for her to be in dreamland.

And you think the story ends there?

Shortly before midnight, her fever was back and it hit 39 degrees...and Lola Milen was upchucking for hours. Poor Mommy Nina didn't know who to take care of first...and just what she would do if one (or both) had to be rushed to the hospital.

Now that is what you call a far from boring day.

Not to worry though. Both granny and little girl are okay. The fever was just to end the day with an exclamation point while the noisy upchucking was to scare away bad spirits that may have entered the house to greet Reb a happy birthday.
