In 2006...

The Christmas season seemed to have passed like a gentle breeze...I hardly felt it. The last few days before Christmas were so hectic that we were just too happy to sit back and relax during the big day. It was also unfortunate that Reb and I had been suffering from asthma until now. It is quite hard to think of something to write to kick the new year right.

Then yesterday morning we had a pleasant surprise when neighbors excitedly told us they saw Reb on tv. Apparently the Dumex milk commercial where she was a part of had already been aired during the Homeboy timeslot. Luckily, it was aired again during the Game Ka Na Ba timeslot. Reb was speechless for a moment (such a rare moment) when she saw herself on tv. I wasn't able to watch the whole commercial as I was looking at her and the tv because I wanted to see her reaction. Now, wait a minute. Reb...speechless...such an oxymoron!

I was told the print ad should be out very soon too. Now I just hope she gets paid soon...

Speaking of money, I hope it will be much better this year in that area. Honestly though, if I were to wish for stuff this year, most of them have nothing to do with money. Ironically, the lack of it has made me realize just how important health and a positive attitude are. I pray for good health for myself and my loved ones so we can all be here for each other and take care of each other. I pray that I always have the right attitude so that no matter what happens, I will be able to cope. I have realized that when you've got those two pegged, financial blessings automatically come your way. And that does not mean getting rich but finding comfort within your means.

It's always good to check our expectations at the start of the year. It's not bad to aim high. But just like what Billy Joel said in one of his songs (Vienna), "Dream on but don't imagine they'll all come true." You've got to give yourself a little margin of error because you cannot control everything in your life.

It's also good to reassess your priorities in life. Work hard but don't forget to give yourself some time off. Let me leave you with this beautiful song entitled Vienna by Billy Joel. I love this song. It keeps me grounded. I believe this song paints a very accurate picture of how life is for most of us these days...

Slow down you crazy child
You're so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you're so smart tell me why
Are you still so afraid?
Where's the fire, what's the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only
So many hours in a day

But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old
You're gonna kick off before you even get halfway through
When will you realize...Vienna waits for you

Slow down you're doing fine
You can't be everything you want to be
Before your time
Although it's so romantic on the borderline tonight (tonight)
Too bad but it's the life you lead
You're so ahead of yourself
That you forgot what you need
Though you can see when you're wrong
You know you can't always see when you're right (you're right)

You got your passion you got your pride
But don't you know that only fools are satisfied?
Dream on but don't imagine they'll all come true
When will you realize
Vienna waits for you

Slow down you crazy child
Take the phone off the hook and disappear for a while
It's alright you can afford to lose a day or two
When will you realize...
Vienna waits for you.

But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old
You're gonna kick off before you even get halfway through
Why don't you realize...Vienna waits for you
When will you realize...Vienna waits for you

HAVE A GREAT 2006, MY FRIENDS!
