Backsliding blogger
It's been one thing after another the past two months. I know I promised myself I'll post at least once a week but I guess it was easier said than done. However, now that I have a PDA with built-in keyboard (thanks to my two beautiful, smart, sexy and oh so wonderful sisters), I'm hoping things will change.Let's see. There have been a couple of stuff I've been meaning to say about recent events.
Manny Pacquiao. He made us really proud. Eric Morales said he was playing for his own pride. Manny said he was playing for the pride of the Filipino. Now there lay the big differece. It was a noble yet truly awesome fight, Manny. Now I just hope we don't need to be punched and bruised just to be recognized.
Kawanggawa 2006. A few weeks back there was a fire very near our place. Reb and I were mesmerized by the thick smoke as we watched from the FX (which was waiting to be filled). As I looked at the thick grey smoke stain the otherwise clear blue sky, I was thinking about the anguish of losing everything you have sweated for. I was hoping nobody was hurt. I learned though that an elderly woman died in the fire when she went back to her house to get her money.
It was sad to see those shanties burned to the ground. Everything these poor families owned turned to ashes in just a little more than an hour. A few days after, we cooked arroz caldo and pancit to give to them. It was heartwrenching to see children hungrily eat up the food in record time. We know it wasn't enough. It was just one meal out of three for that day.
We brought Reb along when we gave our little offering. She understood that the people there had little to eat because of the fire. She remembers that thick smoke a lot. And that helped drive home a couple of simple points.
Fire can destroy.
There are people without food.
Be thankful we have food.
Be thankful we have a house.
Be thankful we are safe.
SHARE whenever you can.
Reb's blessings. Last January 8, the Dumex commercial where Reb was a part of started airing. Considering the fact that she was just a replacement (now there's another story there), it was ablessing in disguise since she landed a pretty good supporting role. Most of the kids were barely seen. And after more than two months, she finally got her talent fee last week plus 24 400-gram cans of Dumex milk.Back to school. Yup! Just as students are gearing up for summer vacation, I've started school again. I've enrolled in a home-based course for Medical Transcription. Now let's hope I'm not too rusty to study again.
Ultra stampede. Such a sad, sad event. But right now I would like to pass on this first. I feel that this is worthy of one full post.
Isn't it obvious in this post that I've been a delinquent blogger?
